The Indian handicrafts and Gifts fair was started on 16th October 2007 at Indian Expo Centre & Mart Delhi- Greater Noida Expressway. It was the 24th IHGF conducted by the EPCH to provide the best products to the world and another amazing historian fair of its kind. IHGF was a show for four days but its memories are forever for all who visited the fair and found the opportunity to have a look over the world class products. The Indian Handicrafts and Gifts fair was the largest show held so far in Asia. The IHGF provided an opportunity to interested parties to import handicrafts from India and to the handicraft exporters to display their products. In this fair 2400 exhibitors participated with covering area of more than 100,000 square mts. The fair was inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister of Textiles India, Mr. Shankar Singh Vaghela. At the same time a book named as “ Tana Bana” – Hand woven and Handcrafted textiles of India was also released. The book has been edited by the famous Ms Mallika Sarabhai and presents briefly the 5000 years old origin & development of textiles in India. The ministry of Textiles has published and promoted this book.
In this IHGF about 2400 exhibitors showcased more than 1000 products with different lines, styles, designs and raw materials etc. The wide range of House Wares, Decorative & Gifts, Fashion Jewellery, Accessories and Bags, Cane, Bamboo & Eco- friendly products, Christmas Decorations , Candles & Incense Sticks , shoes & Foot-wears with exclusive designs and colors , jute products, Home textiles, Furnishings, Furniture, Floor Coverings and other useful home accessories were available. One very effective and important factor regarding the reliability of products was that buyers were assured in all aspects while placing their orders because all exhibitors were screened by The EPCH prior to their participation. Number of nationally awarded artisans took part in the fair with new developed and improved products.
The Indian Handicrafts and Gifts Fair has come to know as “One stop sourcing hub “among the overseas buyers with the best products at the most reasonable prices. The buyers from round the globe visited in the IHGF and placed orders. All the buyers were much satisfied and happy because of finding a wide range of all products. The buyers were from USA, Canada, Germany, UK, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Sweden, Turkey, South Africa, Greece, Hungry, Crech, Poland, Corsica, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, New Zealand and countries from Latin America, Central Asia and Middle East. The buyers visit in the IHGF was much more than expected.
The Port of Helifex Authorities of Canada, sponsored delegation visited in IHGF Autumn 2007. The delegation was led by Mr. Augus Fraser, Provisional Minister along with Mr. Jerry Bloom, Chairperson POH, Ms Karen Old Field, President & CEO, POH, Mr George Malec Vice President POH, Mr David Oxner, NSBI, Mr Janine Fraser & Mr Paul Waite, Vice- President CN Railways. The delegation enquired the entire range of furnishings; house wares, furniture, cutlery, crockery; antiques, contume jewellery and other items displayed by the exhibitors came from almost every part of India. Mr Fraser was very impressed with the quality, designs, colors, workmanship of the Indian products and most importantly the organizers team of EPCH and India Expo Centre. His views were for IHGF that India had nearly every thing to offer to the world market. The delegation was particularly very impressed and appreciated the cane & bamboo products displayed at North East & Uttarakhand pavilions in IHGF.
