The Indian Handicrafts and Gifts Fair was inaugurated on 13th oct. 06 at India Expo Centre & Mart. It was 2nd IHGF conducted by EPCH in the venue of India Expo Centre & Mart.The fair provided an opportunity to interested parties to import handicrafts from India and to the handicrafts exporter to display their products. This Handicrafts and Gifts Fair (IHGF) was rated as Asia’s largest gifts and handicrafts fair, in which more than 1800 exhibitors took part to showcase their large range of products and the total covered area of this exhibition was about 80,000 square meters.
In this IHGF the traditional lamp lighting and ribbon cutting ceremony was performed by Hon’ble Member of Parliament Mr. Ashok Pradhan ji. Mr. Pradhan also unveiled the IHGF Autumn Fair Directory and the Creative+Design India Directory to the buyers and other concerned people. Mr. Pradhan said in his inaugural speech as “ I congratulate the efficient team of EPCH who have brought buyers and media persons from around the globe and marked Noida on the world map. The India Expo centre , inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister has gained fame in international circuits and is now a business hub that the world looks up to. Also state Chief Ministers from across the country wish to visit this destination to lend their support as well as gain mileage for the handicrafts of their states.” One very effective and important factor regarding reliability of products was that buyers were assured in all aspects while placing orders in this Indian Handicrafts & Gifts Fair as all exhibitors at IHGF were screened by EPCH prior to their participation in this fare. No. of nationally awarded artisans took part in this gifts trade fair with new developed and improved products. India plans to increase its share in the global handicrafts trade to four percent in the next three years from the present level of less than two percent through these kind of fairs. Today the demand of handicrafts import from India has increased. More and more exporters is exporting handcrafted products all across the globe. And India Expo Centre & Mart has made with ambition to provide the best facilities and environment to the buyers and traders for international business.
In this IHGF about 1800 exhibitors showcased more than 800 products with different lines, styles, designs and raw materials etc. There wide range of House ware, Decorative & Gifts, Fashion jewellery, Accessories and Bags, cane, Bamboo & Eco-Friendly Products, Christmas Decorations , Candles & incense sticks, shoes and chapples with exclusive designs and colors, Jute Products , Home Textiles, Furnishings, Furniture, Floor coverings and Home Accessories were available. There was an exciting range of international products and services, leading names from the industry, new business opportunities, and an opportunity to make new contacts and gather information. Among the exhibitors many other export trade bodies like Jute Manufacturing Development council, Indian Silk Export Promotion Council and Handloom Export Promotion Council etc. also presented their products. In the gift trade fair there was an exclusive display of North Eastern products in this Indian Handicrafts and Gifts Fair. In IHGF buyers from round the globe visited and placed orders as per their requirements. Buyers were from USA, Canada , Germany, UK, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Sweden, Turkey, South Africa, Greece, Hungry, Czech, Poland, Corsica, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, New Zealand and countries from Latin America, Central Asia and Middle East. More than 8000 international buyers visited during five days of the exhibition and the fair has generated export business amounting to 1700 crores. Apart from it about 7500 trade enquires were received from international buyers which may turn into actual business in the next six to eight months. It is the biggest achievement of this fair.

Indian Handicrafts and gifts Fair (IHGF) oct. 06 has attracted attention of top most buying organizations in the world. Buyers from different parts of the world appreciated the products of the fair and praised the India Expo Centre & Mart . Mr Merveilles Du Monde from France said “This is my maiden visit to IEC and I found it better than earlier venue for IHGF. The set up here is quite well organized and all products under one roof is great. I am a wholesaler looking for fashion jewellery. French people really admire glass, metal and wood accessories. In our country nickel free items are often complaint with the required standards so India is a great sourcing destination for us”. In the same way Mr. Deepak P cooke and Meera Kakar from UK viewed as “We’ve been sourcing from India for past 25 years now. Indian textiles especially cotton finds a big market in UK and almost 10% of our purchases every year are made from here. We chiefly deal in made-ups and the variety here is fresh, trendy and fashionable. India fits in all compliances for the UK government. We really like the India Expo Centre in terms of facilities and setup. And a big buyer from Brazil told that she was a retailer and had been sourced clothes and bags from India for the past one year. That new venue was far more specious and comfortable than the previous one. In the same way infrastructure and facilities at India Expo Centre & Mart were highly appreciated by the buyers and visitors. A part from buyers many other VVIPs and world known personalities visited in the fair to know the exclusive range of handicraft products. Those were Tourism and Culture Minister Ms. Ambika Soni, Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Delhi Mr. B.L. Joshi, German Ambassador Mr. Muetzelburg, Jt. Secretary Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizer Mr. Deepak Singhal, Dy. Chairman Planning Commission Mr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, DC Handicrafts Mr. Sanjay Aggarwal and Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Environment and Forest Mr. Namo Narayan Meena, Chief Secretary Orrisa Dr. Subash Pani and others. All visited the exhibition and took personal interest in various products. The fair lasted fifth day on 17th oct. 06. Hon’ble Chief Minister Delhi Mrs. Shilla Dikshit was special guest in concluding function of this fare. She expressed her views that IEC&M is the right place for such kind of fares to boost the international market for Indian products . It will be helpful in making Indian Handicrafts items world known and strong our economy too.
The buyers traffic in this fair was much more than expected. In this fair not only old buyers but buyers from new markets like Lebanon, Austria, Middle East and Spain visited.
