Chinese traders prefer India Exposition Centre to Pragati Maidan
An eighty-five member high-powered Chinese business delegation visited the state-of-the-art India Exposition Centre & Mart in Greater Noida, touting it as the ultimate international business destination, competing the prominence of pragati Maidan, currently holding an International Trade fair.
The Chinese delegation, participating in a big way in the India International Trade Fair 2005 (IITF’05), which is currently on, used the opportunity to visit the India Exposition Centre (IEC) prior to IITF.
Visibly bewitched by the Exposition, the visitor termed it “as one of the best in the world” signaling that it may emerge as global trade destination equal to Pragati Maidan in near future for B2B fairs.
We are amazed to find such a sprawling state-of-the-art business centre near the capital with advance features. Surely, it will be the focus of the India one day,” Zhang Yazhu, General Manager, Genertec International Advertising and Exhibition Co. Ltd., Beijing, told UNI while visiting the IEC on Sunday.
Yazhu said she has been visiting India since 1997 and arranging Chinese participation in the IITF from 2001 at Pragati Maidan every year with increased number of companies with best of their products.
She was, however, critical of the 14-day-long duration of the trade fair and said ”it is not possible for the participant to keep away from the regular business activity for such a long period …… it should not be more than 5-da.”
“The two big giants of Asia have tremendous trade potential. With the Chinese entry into WTO, more avenues will open for bilateral trade with India as most of the Chinese businessmen, presently having a little information about India, should exchange visits to get to know more about each other’s strength and business capabilities,”Yazhu said adding “India is a large country and they are quite positive in this regard.”
Yazhu informed that bilateral trade between the two countries stood at 10 billion dollars in 2004 and the figure during the first 10 months of 2005 is to tune of 12.8 billion dollars.
Though a little far from the Pragati Maidan, the leader of the delegation evinced keen interest in holding special Chinese products exhibition in the IEC lasting 3 to 5 days. The other reason for liking the place was that the venue was specifically for holding serious B2B fairs in the international ambience, she added.
Representatives of the big Chinese companies from the developed provinces of Shandong, Zhejiang and Tibet Autonomous Region were also part of the delegation who expressed desire to set up their buying offices in the IEC Mart.
