Bangalore to host ANALYTICA - ANACON'06 in Nov

Analytica - Anacon 2006, the trade fair and exhibition for the analysis, laboratory-technology, diagnostics and biotechnology industry is being held for the first time in Bangalore from november 16 - 18. This is the third show in India after the first two held in Mumbai.
The fair is being held by Messe Munchen International (MMI, Munich Trade Fair International Group), in association with Indian Analytical Instruments Association and expects about 120 exhibitors, of which 50% are international exhibitors mainly from Austria, Germany, Italy and others, according to Kurt Schraudy, managing director.
According to Schraudy the world market size for this business is about 8 billion euros and of this Asia accounts for 28%, and world-wide growth is about 5% per annum.
On the importance of India, he says that there are about 200 active biotech firms. "We expect India getting stronger in this segment, he said. Interesingly, Analytica - Anacon is the flagship event for the company held once in two years. When asked whether the Indian event would dilute the main event,Schraudy said: "we don't cannibalise each other. In fact, we complement each other.Also, the decision was to grow in growing markets as opposed to mature markets."
