House ware show generates business worth over Rs 500 Crore
The country’s maiden house-ware show generated spot export orders worth Rs. 106 crore during its five-day exposition which concluded on Tuesday, and export enquiries estimated at Rs. 400 crore.
The Indian House ware Show was organized by the Export Promotion council for Handicrafts (EPCH). Big business houses such as Pier1 Imports, and the Bombay Company of the US, Carrefour of Columbia, Porten’s and Mobel Hubner of Germany and Karo Plast SP.J, Poland, visited the show and placed spot export orders.
An eight-member, high-powered team from Cuba also placed export orders in addition to over 650 other foreign companies.
More than 480 exhibitors showcased their innovative products and registered encouraging buyer attendance.
Buyers from countries such as the US, Brazil, Columbia, Argentina, Peru, Guatemala, Portugal, Uruguay, Mexico, Canada, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Spain, France, Poland, Slovakia, Austria and other European countries and Far-East visited the mega show.
To widen their international market reach, a large number of Indian exporters have been participating in two major house-ware exhibitions held in Chicago, the US and Hong Kong.
Mr.Navratan Samdaria, Chairman, IEC&M, said that “these events like the Indian House ware Show are an attempt to connect the world to India."
Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Executive Director, EPCH said that “the feedback of buyers is encouraging and declared the show as a regular event of the council in future.” The EPCH, who have been organizing the Indian Handicrafts & Gift Fair two times in a year for the last 12 years have now branched off to new growth product areas.
Recently, EPCH had organized a product-specific show on handcrafted textiles flooring, furnishing and made ups called IFFTEX.
