Designated as the city of flowers and fountains, Greater Noida voasts of five to eight parks in every sector. The planning is so perfect that flowers bloom all through the year giving the city a vibrant look.

This is something for which the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) deserves kudos. Twenty-five per cent of the open area of the city is reserved for a green cover. Unlike Noida, where most central verges and roadsides have become resting places for stray animals or turned into garbage dumps, the ones in Greater Noida are impeccably landscaped. The GNIDA has a detailed landscape plan specifying the plantation pattern as well as the variety of trees and plants to be planted seasonally.

The planning is so perfect that flowers bloom all through the year. In the last one year, the greenery has increased. All along central verges, pedestrian pathways, green belts along the roads, roundabouts and shopping centres, trees and shrubs impart colour and beauty to the environment.

Designated as the City of Flowers and Fountains, Greater Noida boasts of five to eight parks in every sector with one park in each sector developed as a theme park. No sector, be it residential, commercial or industrial, looks barren.

The City Park spread over 20 acres, the 7.5-acre Lohia Rivulet Park near the India Expo Mart and the various theme parks have many species of plants like neem, ficus benghalensis, date palm, traveller palm, fish tail palm, ashoka, chameli, cycus palm and many more.

Creating a riot of colour are the seasonal flowers and roses, which are an absolute delight to the senses. The residential blocks get their names from the plants in the area. So you have Gulmohar Block, Jamun Block and Ashoka Block.

Rakesh Bahadur, Chairman and CEO (CCEO), Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), says, "Green space is an important factor in urban life. It brings relief from the concrete jungle of the city, and functions as a place to gather, relax, play, and experience a bit of nature. The town planners of Greater Noida have realised this."

"We follow a unique ecotel concept, which is a firm commitment to pursue progress in partnership with nature," he says.
